ZHI Shuping attends the Belt and Road forum for international cooperation


   The Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation was held in Beijing on May 14, 2017. AQSIQ Minister Zhi Shuping attended the opening ceremony of the forum, high-level dialogue and addressed the thematic session on trade connectivity . In his speech Zhi pointed out that AQSIQ, as the competent authority of inspection, quarantine, metrology, certification and accreditation, inspection and testing, fully implemented President Xi’s initiative, proactively strengthened practical cooperation with the countries along the Belt and Road, established cooperation mechanisms and platforms, pushed forward the connectivity of National Quality Infrastructure, conducted practical cooperation that facilitates trade, strengthened joint prevention and control of pests and diseases, and has made staged achievements.

  Zhi made a four-point proposal to countries along the Belt and Road. Firstly, to promote mutual recognition of standards to facilitate legal trade. Secondly, to strengthen metrology cooperation to facilitate fair trade. Thirdly, to promote certification and accreditation cooperation to facilitate mutually beneficial trade. Fourthly, to deepen inspection and quarantine cooperation to facilitate safe trade. Zhi also proposed to promote connecting of relevant systems, networking of certificates, mutual assistance of law enforcement and joint prevention of risks, to build up a community of shared destiny in quality and safety, and consolidate a safety basis for facilitating trade.

  On the sidelines, Zhi signed, with Vice Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan Isayeva, Director of the State Inspectorate for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Security of Kyrgyzstan Zhumakanov, Director General for Agro and Nature of the Netherlands Marjolijn Sonnema, and Director General of United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Li Yong respectively, the protocol on honey to be exported from Kazakhstan to China, the protocol on sanitary requirements on poultry by-products for pet food processing to be exported from Kyrgyzstan to China, protocol on sanitary requirements on razor clams to be exported from the Netherlands to China, and the MOU on cooperation between AQSIQ and UNIDO in the national convention center.
