On January 8, Sun Dawei met with a delegation headed by Inez Moore Tenenbaum, Chairman of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), in Liuyang, Hunan Province. The two sides conducted a joint investigation into firework exporting enterprises and the national key laboratory of firework and firecracker detection in Liuyang, inquiring into firework production, inspection and supervision, and exchanging views on further tightening supervision on inspection of fireworks exported to the U.S. and intensifying technical cooperation in detection. Both sides fully affirmed the necessity of establishing a mechanism of regular meeting on firework safety and quality, and achievements that have been made.
