ZHI Shuping attends the meeting between Chinese and Canadian Premiers

  AQSIQ Minister Mr. Zhi Shuping attended the welcome ceremony  hosted by Chinese Permier Li Keqiang for the visiting Canadian Premier Trudeau at the Great Hall of the People and the bilateral meeting on August 31, 2016. Canada is an important member of G20. Since China and Canada established diplomatic relations 46 years ago, the connections in the political, economic, trade and cultural areas have been deepending continously. China has become Canada’s second largest trade partner, second largest source of imports and second largest export market, and the bilateral relations, cooperation and development enjoy a promising future.

  Cooperation in the area of inspection and quarantine is an important part of the China-Canada bilateral relations. For years, AQSIQ has been focusing on protecting consumers’ health and biosecurity and promoting healthy development of bilateral trade. AQSIQ has established good cooperative relations with Canadian Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Health, Food Inspetion Agency and other counterparts. Several cooperation mechanisms are in execution. On the sidelines of the meeting, Zhi exchanged views with Canadian Minister of International Trade Ms Chrystia Freeland and Canadian Ambassador to China Mr. Guy Saint-Jacques on the inspection and quarantine of agricultural products.
