Witnessed by Premier Li Keqiang and Afghan Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah, AQSIQ Vice Minister Mr. Sun Dawei signed with Afghan Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock Mr. Assadullah Zameer the protocol of the phytosanitary requirments on Saffron imported from Afghanistan between AQSIQ and Afghan Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock at the Great Hall of the People on May 16, 2016.
China and Afghanistan are close neighbours, with long history of friendly companionship. The two countries have been devoted to consolidating and developing China-Afghanistan strategic cooperative partnership. In 2015, the bilateral trade volume reached 330 milliion US dollars. To serve the healthy development of China-Afghanistan bilateral relations, for many years AQSIQ has been continuously pushing forward the cooperation in the area of inspection and quarantine with Afghanistan. Especially in the framework of China-Afghanistan strategic cooperative partnership and the “Belt and Road”Initiative, the cooepartion in the area of inspection and quarantine between China and Afghanistan has developed steadily, and many achievements have been made.
The protocal signed this time stipulates the mandatory quarantine requirements on saffron to enter into Chinese market and ensures the safety and health of saffron bought by Chinese consumers.
