The national standard Instant Detection of Melamine in Raw Milk--Liquid Chromatography Method（GB/T22400-2008）, immediately effective, was issued with the approval of the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine(AQSIQ) and the Standardization Administration of China(SAC) on October 15.
Responding to the requirements raised by milk collecting stations and suppliers on instant detection of melamine in raw milk purchasing, the Ministry of Science and Technology, together with AQSIQ, Ministry of Agriculture and Ministry of Health, organized experts to screen and assess the 128 instant detection methods submitted by 126 institutes and labs. On-spot testing showed that the technique developed by the National Institute of Metrology (NIM) was one comparatively mature, and could be drawn up as national standard.
Speedy procedures for standard formulation was then launched, with the method undergoing testing and verification by over 10 labs jointly, and the expert team’s review.
The method applies to instant detection of melamine in raw milk, as well as liquid milk products without additives. It can help milk stations and suppliers, and milk product makers complete melamine detection quickly and accurately, without affording too much testing cost.
