Zhi Shuping accompanies Premier Li Keqiang in China-CEE and SCO meetings: to serve the national diplomacy with practical cooperation in inspection and quarantine

  AQSIQ Minister Zhi Shuping accompanied Premier Li Keqiang for the visit to Hungary and Russia, attended the 6th Summit of China and Central and Eastern European Countries(16+1)and the 16th Meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Heads of Governments, and paid an official visit to Hungary from November 26 to December 2, 2017.

  This year marks the 5th anniversary of China-CEE (16+1) cooperation. Participants spoke highly of the great achievements in the past five years in the areas of big projects, economy and trade, investment, transportation, and tourism under the framework of 16+1 cooperation. China's imports of agricultural products and food from CEE countries rose by 13.7% on an average annual basis and the China-Europe freight trains made over 6,000 trips. Li pointed out in the meeting that the key to the fast development and vitality of "16+1" cooperation lies in our commitment to the principle of "equal consultation, mutual benefit, openness and inclusiveness, being results-oriented and innovative" in developing our cooperation. For our future work, we need to expand economic and trade cooperation, enhance connectivity, strengthen cooperation on innovation, bolster financial support and energize people-to-people exchange. During the meeting, Li emphasized several times that China is ready to import more high quality agricultural products from CEE countries, and announced that China would sign with CEE countries 7 cooperation agreements in the area of inspection and quarantine on alfafa, feed, bee products, bumblebee and beef. China would also establish and improve communication and consultation mechanisms with CEE countries, and speed up inspection and quarantine access procedures.

  Zhi accompanied Premier Li in the opening ceremony of the 7th China-CEEC Business Forum, the 6th Summit of Heads of Government of China and Central and Eastern European Countries (CEEC), the signing ceremony, press conference and bilateral discussions with Poland, Latvia, Macedonia, Serbia, Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Premier Li’s all activities in his official visit to Hungary and, under the witness of the leaders, signed 6 cooperation agreements in inspection and quarantine.

  In June this year China took over the SCO rotating presidency. After the SCO’s first membership expansion, this meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of Governments stands on a new starting point and pushes for cooperation in political, security, economic, people-to-people and cultural fields among member states, and cooperation in inspection and quarantine is an important part. Minister Zhi attended the Extended Session of the Meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of Member States of SCO, the signing ceremony, and the bilateral meetings between Premier Li and the leaders from Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Belarus and Kazakhstan.

  On the sidelines, Zhi conducted bilateral discussions with Hungarian Minister of Agriculture Mr. Sándor Fazekas and Deputy Prime Minister of the Slovenian Government, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Food Mr. Dejan ?idan, exchanged views on the inspection and quarantine of agricultural products and food of both sides’ concern and improvement of bilateral cooperation mechanisms, and signed cooperation agreements. During the stay, Zhi visited CCIC East Europe company, and asked the overseas company to study and implement the requirements of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, make bold reforms and innovations, consistently improve governance system and explore market businesses. Zhi encouraged them to combine the development of the company with “Belt and Road” Initiative and “16+1” cooperation, adapt to the local conditions, achieve localization and internationalization, set up a good brand and image for companies with Chinese investment and serve the national opening-up.
